FUN!
Richard Littlefield
Oct 18 – Nov 10, 2019
Opening Reception: October 19, 2019 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Artist Talk: Nov 10, 2019 Sunday 2:30-3:30 pm
When Richard Littlefield was interviewed on Channel 4 in Guadalajara, Mexico, the interviewer asked about a few of his compositions commenting that the Virgin de Guadalupe apparently has had an influence in his work. Littlefield’s response was to mention that Her image was found on every other corner in East LA where he was born and raised. He eventually entered graduate school at age 50 and obtained the ultimate arts degree in 2003. His exhibitions have featured a wide variety of techniques, imagery, and conceptual themes. He also has engaged his passion for curating other artists’ work, most recently in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Littlefield says of his work: the media is very mixed. If I can glue it, screw it, or tie it to the plywood surface, I can use it.
Why FUN?
It has been stated that what the artist says about their work is the way it will be seen.
So... it's FUN.
Often in a museum or gallery the serious or quiet voices of attendees can create an atmosphere that might be more appropriate for a church or funeral service. Within the space of the few seconds an art patron will view a composition and he or she will create a response. Often an explanation or even a title can create a perspective in the viewers mind.
FUN is the style of this exhibition.
it has always been my personal art viewing experiences to not read any printed material. Viewing art is first a visual experience that is then understood or responded to in your brain. Hey folks this is FUN. Whether you personally have any FUN viewing these compositions is completely your choice. There are many different kinds of FUN.
Are we having FUN yet? Yes.
